Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Construction Project Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform complex construction assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard construction engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Onsite construction engineer responsible for day-to-day administration of contracts in the capacity as the owner's representative.
  • May serve as project engineer on construction of roadways, bridges, airports, buildings, utilities or other projects.
  • Responsible for the project's technical aspects, compliance with regulations and specifications, review of project documentation and quantities, the recommendation of pay item quantity adjustments, function as the owners representative with the contractor, property owners, businesses and the public, the performance of inspection duties and other related tasks.
  • May determine materials test required; evaluates results of tests and formulates recommendations from results.
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations for extended periods of time, often in a camp setting with limited resources.
  • Ability to make quality decisions and use sound engineering judgement when providing direction in field.
  • Conduct project field coordination, documentation, cost monitoring, bidding and scheduling
  • Receive, issue and track RFIs, submittals and other required data.
  • Good attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related project experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Prolog (basic), and Primavera.
  • Considerable knowledge of the practical application of professional engineering principles, standard construction methods and equipment.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices applied in the inspection and testing of construction materials.
  • Ability to effectively lead project team to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, consultants, utility companies, contractor's employees, and the public.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
