Please note: This position will require being present in the Anchorage office full-time / 5 days per week with some flexibility offered for unique or "one-off" type situations. We value in person collaboration and this role will require being present with the team in order to be set up for success and receive the training and mentorship needed to thrive in this role.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of a Transportation Planner, we'll count on you to:

  • Work as part of the Transportation Planning team under the direction of the Project Managers on a variety of transportation projects, Planning and Environmental Linkages studies, corridor studies, permits, grant applications, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents.
  • Liaise with various internal and external team members and stakeholders, as required to complete project tasks with high quality deliverables.
  • Work individually as well as within a team structure, effectively communication and corresponding with the team and clients.
  • Prepare required documents (such as plans, NEPA documents, permit applications, grant applications, etc.), maps, and Geographic Information System (GIS) analyses.
  • Collect, analyze, and manage project-related data and conduct research on a variety of transportation, land use, and socio-economic issues.
  • Assist in preparation and participation of public outreach activities including presenting at public meetings, hosting listening posts, and preparing newsletter content.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning or City and Metropolitan Planning
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent organization skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.
