Job Description

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Network, Computer, or Electrical engineering with 3+ years' of work experience or 10+ years' of experience
  • Expertise in networking concepts such as IPv4, IPv6, multicast, routing, VPN, 802.1x, and current security protocols
  • Linux and Windows system network administration experience
  • SECRET clearance with TOP SECRET clearance eligibility
  • This job is normally performed on and off military installations, both inside and outside, with diverse terrain, climates, and varying infrastructure support. Must be able to occasionally work in adverse weather conditions, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • May require travel around the Pacific to Korea, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Guam, Thailand and Canada. Can anticipate 1 to 5 trips per year
  • This is an on-site position. Must be willing to relocate to the Fairbanks Alaska / Eielson Air Force Base area or be a current resident of the area

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • CISSP, CCNP, JNCP or equivalent certification
  • Low level network debug experience using Wireshark or equivalent
  • Military training, weapons range electronic infrastructure, and electronic warfare experience
  • Experience with microwave line of sight design and operation experience, including link budget calculations

The ideal Network Engineer will have the ability to work individually and as part of a team to support the customer's mission objectives. This person will be a team leader with the ability to analytically and methodically troubleshoot network systems to resolve connection issues and security holes. They will have the knowledge to recommend key items that need to be upgraded to keep the range network efficient and functional.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for evaluating and maintaining microwave radios, legacy TDMA radios and Carrier Ethernet utilizing Mesh, P2P, and P2MP networks
  • Help establish guidelines, policies, and procedures surrounding network risks and range security. Audit range network equipment and implement security strategies
  • Evaluate and maintain network elements (Routers, Switches, IDS/IPS, AAA, Firewalls, VPNs, etc.), perform security scans, carry out backups and updates, and investigate security incidents
  • Responsible for integrating new range network equipment (requirements, planning, evaluation, procurement, integration, test, and monitoring)
  • Assist in the planning of large scale systems projects though vendor comparison and cost studies
  • Resolve network interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms
  • Work with and manage other contracting groups to achieve mission goals
